Qi has a multitude of meanings, some of
them around the idea/sensation/awareness of vital force which is again a multitude
of ideas/sensations/awarenesss which are observed by individuals similar to
the manifestations of qi within the transformation of things in the world.
If we nevertheless search for a comparable
scientific observable manifestation, light may come to hand. Light can be
seen by all, nevertheless we know that there are a lot of manifestations of
light: invisible light (radiology), a lot of light colors eg in the rainbow and
that the combination of all colors is white (light) or black (painting).
Besides, we may look at light as a straight line with a speed or as waves with
a frequency (which at first sight is a scientific contradiction, nevertheless
it is scientific).
In this multitude of lights and with the
line/wave contradiction, I think, we find something similar and illustrative of
QI.
Light may come to hand to illustrate the
taiji symbol. Light generates shadow(s). But what about the other way
around? Can shadow generate light? It
took e a while before finding examples but yes some lights need darkness to be seen:
the stars, the moon (most of the time, may be seen during day time too) and
fireflies
Is there a union between light and shadow?
Sun/moon is an example
subject to explore.
