Late August, we decided to treat ourselves to a
short holiday to Crete. Just the two of us, just for a week. While enjoying the
sun, the water and the mountains, we had no clue what would happen the year
after. One night, we made ourselves a romantic pic-nic dinner on a high and
dangerous cliff.
Once it became dark, we stayed a bit longer to
watch the stars; quite quickly we start seeing falling start that were asking
us to make a wish. I wished I had a boat so big I could live in it; Vic wished
for somebody to clean that big living boat. In the darkness, we went back to
the hotel and soon we returned back to our home in Belgium.
Our home was a rental home and only temporary.
We were renting that big house for a year now, but we know we didnt want to
rent it forever; we had to go and find a house that we can own.
So we start looking for houses in the newspapers,
on the streets, on the internet, hoping we would find what we want. Seems to be
quite difficult: if you like a house, it costs too much; if it doesnt cost too
much, we dont like it. One day, we should find what we were looking for
Browsing through the internet through all the
same houses we saw before; maybe my criteria were wrong and the house that we
need is there after all. Look there is somebody who sells a houseboat in the
canal of the city where we work already for more than 10 years. Imaging how it would
be like to live in that! The pictures from the inside look very nice; seeing
the boat from the outside looks terrible; price isnt really within our budget
neither; and who wants to live on a boat anyway.
We look further to the real houses, one day we should
what we need. Curious what to find if I type house-boat. Seems there are many
houseboats in the world. There are even a few nearby our work where we passed by
for more than 10 years. Dont want to start about buying and living on a boat, people
will think Im crazy.
