I did make it to the Peruvian border that next day, but I was not fully recovered yet. Only one day later I had to listen to my mothers voice reasoning in my head and I stopped again... This time I treated myself to a fancy resort for a couple of days. After spoiling myself there I was a kind of in the mood and I just kept on spoiling myself. I chilled a bit longer than planned on the nice surfbeaches of Máncora, but after that it was obvious that I was fully recovered and I hit the road again. At first it was pure joy in the gorgeous Peruvian deserts, but in the late afternoon I had to deal with a very strong headwind which was carrying half the deserts dust and sand. I didn't enjoy that for all to long, so I stopped a truck and hitched to the next town. From there on I did find my strongest legs again and was ready to face more deserts. A couple of really long, but very funny cyclingdays brought me into Chiclayo and by now I'm in Trujillo already. Taking the bicycle out for a ride to some archeological sites and to a nice beach I bumped into the Dutch guys Alex and Michel. I met them some four months ago in Nicaragua and later I ran into Alex in Panama as well. I knew they were in the area and I refuse to say "it's a small world"; you should try riding it on your bicycle!!
