&E Network presents “Stephen King’s Bag of Bones,” a four-hour epic miniseries based on The New York Times #1 bestselling novel, and featuring Pierce Brosnan’s return to television. The two-night event from Sony Pictures Television premieres on Sunday, December 11 and concludes on Monday, December 12, airing at 9PM ET/PT on both nights.
“Bag of Bones” is a ghost story of grief and lost love’s enduring bonds, about an innocent child caught in a terrible crossfire and a new love haunted by past secrets. Melissa George (“In Treatment”), Annabeth Gish (“Brotherhood”), Anika Noni Rose (Dreamgirls), William Schallert (“The Patty Duke Show”), Jason Priestley (“Beverly Hills, 90210”) and Caitlin Carmichael (“True Blood”) also star.
In “Bag of Bones,” bestselling novelist Mike Noonan (Brosnan) is unable to stop grieving after the sudden death of his wife Jo (Gish). Suffering from writer’s block, a dream inspires him to return to the couple’s lakeside retreat in western Maine. While there, Mike befriends an attractive young widow, Mattie (George) and her daughter Kyra (Carmichael), and becomes involved in a custody battle with the child’s enormously wealthy grandfather, Max (Schallert). Though his ability to write suddenly returns, Mike is plagued by ever-escalating nightmares and mysterious ghostly visitations from Sara Tidwell (Rose), a blues singer whose spirit lingers in the house. As he is haunted by the many secrets at the lake, Mike comes to realize that his late wife still has something to tell him.
“Bag of Bones” is produced by Sony Pictures Television for A&E.
Executive producers are Mark Sennet for Mark Sennet Entertainment, Inc., Mick Garris for Nice Guy Productions, Inc. and Stewart Mackinnon for Headline Pictures Limited. Brian Gary and David Davoli are the co-executive producers. Mick Garris directed the Matt Venne penned script, based on The New York Times #1 bestseller by Stephen King.
Oceana announced that Keely and Pierce Brosnan along with Jeff Bridges will be special guests at the 3rd annual SeaChange Summer Party—the yearly Orange County fundraising event supporting the international ocean conservation group.
“We are delighted that the Brosnans and Mr. Bridges will join us at the 2010 SeaChange Summer party,” said Valarie Whiting, Oceana Board Member and SeaChange Co-Chair along with Eve Kornyei. “Their support for Oceana’s ocean conservation efforts makes them a natural fit for this event and will surely help generate significant funding for the preservation of marine ecosystems worldwide.”
Last year’s event raised nearly $900,000 and was attended by 400 people, many of them Hollywood notables including Glenn Close, Morgan Freeman, Harrison Ford, Ted Danson, Jeff Goldblum, Anne Heche, and Diane Keaton.
This year’s event will take place on September 10th at Villa di Sogni, a private coastal home in Laguna Beach. To participate in Oceana’s SeaChange Summer Party visit seachangesummerparty.org.
The Irish actor said it was not until he lost the part, later taken on and toughened up by Daniel Craig, that he felt he was able to act properly again.
And despite making no secret of the fact he’d like to play Bond again after 2002’s Die Another Day, Pierce says he felt restricted by the role that catapulted him to the top of Hollywood’s A-list.
“I felt very shackled by Bond and didn’t want to rock the boat,” he says.
“You get tangled up in your own ego of how you’re perceived. You can lose your way.”
Pierce, 57, says it took several years to find his feet again after Bond and credits the 2005 comedy drama The Matador with finally helping him to let go of his desire to play the leading man after he was replaced as 007.
“It was good to actually act,” he remembers.
“I have said to my agents, ‘I want to work. I want to play character roles.’
“You can be a leading man for so long and it’s wonderful but there comes a time when you have to deal with life and move over on the stage.
“The Matador was a great confidence booster. I really felt like I got a transformation there of some sort.”
Perhaps it is a good job Pierce is over his desire to portray dashing heroes – his recent outing in Roman Polanski-directed The Ghost saw him play Adam Lang, a British prime minister accused of war crimes, whose story features many uncanny parallels to the premiership of Tony Blair
With every yacht charter booked, 1-800-YACHTCHARTER will donate 5% of the proceeds to global ocean charity OCEANA, in the name of the customer. "This is a wonderful opportunity to raise awareness about ocean conservation," says Jana Sheeder, CEO of 1-800-YACHTCHARTER. "The chance to interact with dolphins and whales and to see coral reefs that are teeming with life up close makes a yacht charter a unique, memorable, and life-changing experience. Protecting our oceans is the only way to ensure future generations can enjoy these same marine life encounters."
Sheeder believes a charitable partnership with her clients can help the effort to save the seas. "Our clients have big hearts when it comes to charity and worthwhile causes. I am certain they will be proud to have a portion of their vacation expenditure donated in their names. Imagine snorkeling among a pod of dolphins, knowing that you are helping protect those creatures from pollution and possible extinction."
Sheeder has selected OCEANA to receive the donations. A leader in ocean conservation, OCEANA receives strong backing from Hollywood's motion picture and television industries. Actor Ted Danson serves on the charity's Board and is outspoken about the group's efforts to reduce climate change and safeguard marine life.
Oceana was prominently featured in the 2008 Green Issue of Vanity Fair and was also named by Kiplinger's Personal Finance magazine as a "charity that deserves your dollars."
Additional eco-stars who lend their support to Oceana include Harrison Ford, Salma Hayek, Brooke Shields, Diane Lane, Jamie Lee Curtis, Diane Keaton, Kelsey Grammar, Noah Wyle, Al Gore, Nicholas Cage, Pierce Brosnan, Amanda Beard, Eric Roberts, Ed Begley Jr, Jason Priestly, Jeff Goldblum, Beau Bridges, Lauren Hutton, and Sam Waterson.
For years, celebrities, corporate leaders, and their families have spent their summer holidays cruising the Cote d'Azur on luxury megayachts. Far from the tourist crowds and the paparazzi, charterers enjoy all of the amenities of a 5-star resort in the ultraprivate setting of a multimillion dollar superyacht.
One of the great distinctions of a yachting vacation is the chance to interact with nature from the privacy, safety, and comfort of a megayacht. You carry all of your aquatic exploration toys with you - from kayaks to snorkel gear to scuba equipment. Some of the megayachts even have small submarines for clients to explore coral reefs and observe marine life.
World Oceans Day is June 8, 2009. New charter inquiries received after May 1st and then confirmed via full payment are eligible for the donation. Charters must take place June through October, 2009.

“It’s getting so popular. It’s an easy thing to do and easy to pick up,” says Mike Sandusky, founder of Surf Ontario.
“You get the feeling you’re walking on water.”
Originating in Hawaii decades ago, stand-up paddleboarding was designed by surf instructors to help people who could not pick up the traditional style of surfing. The boards were made thicker and wider and would-be surfers were offered paddles while standing on the boards to help them balance along waves.
Soon however, stand-up paddleboarding emerged from its surfing subculture into the mainstream with celebrities like Pierce Brosnan, Cindy Crawford and Kate Hudson taking up the sport. Its popularity has exploded within Canada in the last four years, the boards becoming a regular sight in Muskoka and along the Toronto lakeshore
