14 Mei 2009 Het is zover !!!
En hop wij netjes op tijd weg naar de ambassade, we hebben 2 dagen verlof en hopen vanavond een flesje to mogen kraken !!
We denken dat alle documenten ok zijn en zien niet in wat er nog fout kan gaan maar je weet maar nooit !!
Om 14h staan we buiten rijtje te schuiven, 1 voor 1 mag men binnen en dan door de security, dan kom je voor loketten te zitten en als die opengaan voor immigratie mag je vooraan gaan , dossier afgeven.( dat Bart trouwens fantastisch heeft opgemaakt met titelblad en clips tot in de puntjes afgewerkt !!)
Daarna moet je gaan betalen en dan mag je vingerafdrukken laten nemen en op interview bij de consul die door middel van steekproeven de echtheid van ons dossier test ( nadat we eerst gezworen hadden de waarheid te spreken) Bart is zo onder de indruk dat hij onze trouwverjaardag vergeet terwijl we nog maar op 14 feb laatstleden naar Washington geweest zijn voor onwe 5de trouwverjaardag!
En we krijgen onze voorlopige Green Card

NIET MEE !!
Ons document goed gedrag en zeden komt van Stad Brugge en moet van het Ministerie van Justitie uit Brussel komen
Maar als we dit volgende week brengen is alles ok.
Beetje ontgoocheld komen we uit de ambassade, Bart is boos op zichzelf omdat het duidelijk vermeld was en we komen nog in een serieuze wolkenbreuk terecht op de koop toe.
De fles is voor later !!

14th of May 2009 This is it !!!
And off we go to the Embassy, we took 2 days of and hope to open a bottle of champagne tonight !!
We think all documents will be ok and cannot think what could go wrong but you never know !!
At 14h00 sharp we are waiting outside the Embassy, we can enter one by one and then need to pass security before arriving to the office windows, when they open you can step forward and hand over our file ( Bart made a piece of art with title page and categories gathered with paperclips in a folder !!! , I have never seen him do that before at home !!!)
The next step is to pay and then they take our finger prints, after that we need to see the Consul who checks if our file is correct by means of questions taken at random ( after we made an oath our file is the completely correct and true) Bart is that impressed by the whole situation that he even forgets the date or our wedding anniversary even after we have just been in Washington last 14th Feb to celebrate our 5th anniversary

And we do
NOT GET OUR PROVISIONAL GREEN CARD !!!!
Our police record was issued by the city of Brughes and it had to be from the Department of Justice in Brussels.
But if we bring in this police record next week all will be fine !
We leave the Embassy a bit frustrated and disappointed and Bart is blaming himself for the wrong police record as the description was very clear, on top of that we get a cloud burst as extra bonus that day
The bottle of champagne is postponed
