Christmas 2015 brought us mild temperatures but a dreary rain that would linger on through the entire day. Any plans I had to cycle outside quickly evaporated and I settled on a 7.5K forest hike in the AM instead.
In the late afternoon I got on the Tacx for half an hour of relaxing cycling . Legs felt a bit tired from the walk but after a couple of minutes they started to feel less contracted and I was able to maintain a good pace.
Busy day at work but I was lloking forward to a good recovery ride on the Tacx Satori. My legs were a little painful after yesterdays' core session which included squats and lunges but once I got on the bike and started pedalling the pain went and the blood started flowing . I was able to maintain a good pace with a low average heartrate of 96bpm.
Another relatively warm day so I took a long mid-day break to walk over to Leuvens Botanic gardens. After work I settled for a 41-minute ride on the Tacx Satori. Long enough to get the recovery juices flowing in my legs. Good pace, and a relatively low heartrate of 95bpm on average .
The weather had been quite extraordinary for the time of year. Clear skies and temperatures over 11 degrees C lured me out on the Moots Psychlo-X for a spin into the forest. Starting out in Meerdael and then riding north into the Heverlee Forest where I followed my front wheel chich took me to surprisingly fast and almost dried-out trails. The occasional puddle notwithstanding this was a dry ride. I rode to the Heverlee barracks where I did a tour on their practice roads before returning to the Naamsesteenweg and up along the E40 towards the Waversebaan. Back into the forest again towards the Zoete Waters and onwards towards the Langendaal and then a last loop down into Vaalbeek and home along the Onze-Lieve-Vrouwstraat into Blanden. legs felt a bit tired from yesterdays' 20.5K hike but they did feel strong on the climbs and overall I was happy to maintain a good pace.
Ride Stats : 32K and 310 heightmeters (Garmin) in 01h22mins
