Klik op de afbeelding om de link te volgen Happy new year to each who happens to stumble on this blog and reads this. I started the new year with a lot of hiking - as usual - but today I got on the Hilset on the Tacx Satori for a first short ride. Legs felt good and I could maintain a good tempo with moderate resistance on the flywheel.

Klik op de afbeelding om de link te volgen Weather was grim and cold so I decided not to go out for my evening hike but stay in the cozy indoors ans do a stint on the Hilset on the tacx Satori. Listening to Bloody Hammers on Spotify and reading a Jo Cleas novel on my Kindle, 30 minutes quickly passed. I felt some pain in my hip from mis-stepping 2 days ago but the muscles that overstretched need some time to heal. It did not affect my cycling nor does it affect my hiking. It just feels a bit stiff when I change from a seated to a standing position.

Felt like a little ride so I took a spin on the Merlin. Following my Nodebais trail I set out through Meerdael forest and Mille towards Tourinnes. Onwards to Nodebais and then back over Hamme Mille and Valduc. Could keep the speed pretty well even though I was not really trying to go fast. near the end I was chasing a bit to be home in less than an hour. Good ride in excellent conditions. Dry, no wind, sunny and not too warm.

Time for another ride so I took the Merlin out for a spin through Meerdael forest. I left in the late morning and the sun was peeping through the early autumn foliage in the forest. It felt calm and quiet and I enjoyed the passage. Arriving at Valduc I rode towards Nodebais where I took a u-turn at the little chapel to make my way to Tourinnes and it's majestic church. Little climbs and descents - a lot of them on cobbles - made me relish the fact that I was on a full suspension bike. Back into Meerdael forest to close the gap on the Godensalon. I went for another U-lap to the edge of the forest in Mollendael, passing the highest point of Meerdael forest. Making my way back home I felt tired but satisfied with my ride.

It had been a while since I last used my mountainbike but today I was set on taking the Merlin out for a mixed ride around Meerdael Forest. Mixed because I did not want to ride in the forest too long because the rains of the last couple of weeks might have made it muddy. Mixed also because I had to get used to the different body and hand positions. Starting out towards Mollendaal where I took the long cobbled climb to Beauvechain. Onwards to reach La Bruyere and then making my way back to the forest. There was some mud here and there but nothing major. Into La Nicaise and climbing out of it towards Nethen. I entered the forest again past La Hetraie and then took a section of my Meerdael Lap into Vaalbeek. A little dabble into Heverlee forest brought me back to La Foresta where I took the Prosperdreef towards Meerdael forest again. I enjoyed the ride and look forward to some more ventures on these trails during autumn.

Cold this morning - relatively speaking - so I waited until 10AM to ride out with the Moots. Following the N25 into Hamme Mille and then the N91 past the airstrip of Beauvechain. Here I chose for a dip into Pietrebais before climbing back out again and crossing the N91 again to reach the N240 . Left and right and I was at the entrance of the 1St Wing Airbase in La Bruyere. The wind was easy and the shy sun gave me warmth. Over Meldert and Opvelp I reached Bierbeek where I rode into Mollendaal and followed the Sint Joris Weert straat through the forest. Reaching the Weertse Dreef I made a little offroad loop along the Prosperdreef and Langestraat to reach the N25 again.

Calm and hazy but rather warm weather this morning, with temperatures reaching 19 degrees C in the morning. I decided to ride a bike because today was the last sunday of the summer holiday and that traditionally means the Landelijke Gilden organising a cycling trip around Leuven. This year they devised 2 50K laps, one north and one south of Leuven. The two could be combined for around 80K. Since I did not ride a bike these last 2 weeks I settled on a 45K lap. Starting in Blanden the lap brought me to Korbeek Dyle, Veltem Beisem and then to Winksele. Here you could either continue the lap - which I did - or switch on the northern 50K lap. I continued through Gasthuisberg, Arenberg and Heverlee to reach Haasrode, Bierbeek and then through Mollendaalbos back to Blanden. A good trip, not too far but far enough for my current cycling fitness.

Looked like a fine morning dor a bike ride so I took the Moots Psychlo-X out for a spin . Riding relaxed I made my way through Heverlee Arenberg towards Egenhoven where I ventured on the plateau to reach Duisburg. From Duisburg to Huldenberg and grinding up the hill and speeding down again into Terlanen. Over Sint Agatha Rode and Sint Joris Weert into the Weertsedreef and back into Blanden along the Naamsesteenweg. A fine little ride that washed my legs from a week of hiking..

After a week of hiking, I was ready for a long ride on the Moots Pqychlo-X. I decided to ride along the N91 until I reached Eghezee or 1h15, whatever came first. There was a mild wind blowing so I struggled to reach Eghezee. Just before Eghezee my clock said that I was 1h15 out so I made a 180 and rode back along the same way whence I came. This part of the ride went a lot easier due to the lack of wind. My legs felt a little tired but I was glad I did the effort .

Time for a ride. I have been hiking for 7 days in a row and my muscles began to harden. So I needed a bike ride to soften them up a bit. I started out over the Zoete Waters and Sint Joris Weert. On to Nethen , Hamme Mille and Nodebais and then up to Beauvechain where I took a left turn to Opvelp. Bierbeek was next and then through Haasrode againts a noticeable wind back to Blanden. Relaxing ride.

It rained a lot last night, dropping the temperatures from the low thirties to 20 degrees C. The air also felt cleansed. I started out over the Zoete Waters and Sint Joris Weert to reach Ottenburg after a long climb with a strong wind in my face. From Ottenburg I rode on to the outskirts of Wavre and then took a right turn towards Overijse. From Overijse to Egenhoven I could enjoy a gentle push from the wind and was able to relax a bit after the hard work in the first half of the ride. From Egenhoven I rode over Arenberg and Heverlee forest to the Naamse Steenweg..

Time for a ride. I started out as usual following the Tiensesteenweg from Korbeek Lo to Tienen, then to Hoegaarden where I injected myself on the Ravel. The wind was blowing dry and strong from the East-North-East and I was relieved to feel it in my back when I arrived in Jodoigne. I rode to Jodoigne-Souveraine and then just outside Dongelberg I took a right turn towards Lathuy. Some more wind blowing in my face but upon reaching the N91 I took a left turn and cruised towards Hamme Mille with the hand of God giving me a gentle push in my back.

Yesterday it rained the whole day so I shifted my ride to today. Was dry and sunny but not too warm, ideal for a ride. Rode to Jodoigne and then to Hoegaarden and finished my ride along the Tiensesteenweg to Leuven and along the expressway back to Blanden. Good feeling in the legs.

Starting out over Hamme Mille and then onwards towards Melin for a 2 hour ride. The weather was slightly overcast but the sun was peeping through the clouds from time to time. I took the Psychlo-X out again and kept an easy bt steady pace. Over Melin to reach Saint-Remi-Geest and Saint-Marie-Geest. Some cobbles here but then I reached the ravel 2 and set course for Hoegaarden. From Hoegaarden I rode towards the R27 ring around Tienen. Along the Tiensesteenweg towards Boutersem and then onto the N25 back to Blanden. This was a good ride and even though I have been hiking a lot the last couple of days, I felt no fatigue in my muscles.

Time for a ride. The sun was out but a little bit veiled. Nevertheless it was warm even in the early morning hours. I rode towards Tienen for a bigger lap and I was glad there was some shade from time to time. The wind was blowing from the southwest and didn't bother me yet. Turning to the right towards Hoegaarden brought me into the wind and I had to dig a little deeper to keep the speed up. I passed at the Hautem chapel for a selfie and then rode towards Meldert and Beauvechain. On the higher plains the sun was roasting but the wind - even when blowing straight in my face - brought some relief. Over Hamme Mille and the Naamsesteenweg I closed the loop.

Another sunny day so I rode out early to profit from the mild sun in the morning. Over the Tiensesteenweg until I reached Kumtich where I took a right towards Oorbeek. Straight on towards Meldert along the new bikepath. Further to Beauvechain and Hamme Mille where I took another right turn to finish my ride along the Naamsesteenweg into Blanden. Legs felt fine and the bike was behaving flawlessly. I have been using my Specialized Pro shoes for the last couple of rides and that feels good too
