FA Cup: Wrexham 2-3 Stamford

Stamford piled more misery on managerless Wrexham, knocking them out of the FA Cup in a fourth qualifying round replay.

Lee Beeson's penalty and Kern Miller's superb volley put Stamford in control.

Shaun Harrad pulled a goal back before Jordan Evans scored in stoppage time to force extra time.

But Duffy's extra-time strike sealed Stamford's place in the first round proper for the first time in their history on a dismal night for Wrexham.

They are joined in the first round by fellow eighth-tier side Taunton. The Southern League Division One South and West team won 2-1 at Hemel Hempstead Town.

Elsewhere, seventh-tier Harrow Borough beat National League South side Margate 3-1, Lincoln won at fellow National League club Guiseley and Woking overcame Torquay.

Wrexham caretaker manager Dean Keates told BBC Radio Wales: "It's a massive disappointment.

"It's a hard one to take but we said to the lads that they showed for 10 minutes what the club's all about and what the fans expect.

"You have to take the rough with the smooth. It's part and parcel of being a footballer and they've got to show a response on Saturday."

Stamford manager Graham Drury told BBC Radio Lincolnshire: "I thought we'd done it in the 90 minutes. All credit to the players, they've really dug in and worked hard.

"It was all hands to the pump and they defended in numbers. They never gave up and that's a sign of great character.

"I've said to them constantly: 'Can we break Wrexham's heart? Can we run that extra mile? Can we dig in when we're absolutely off our feet?' They did just that, they chased and they hassled and there were a couple of quality goals as well so, all in all, what a fantastic adventure."
