Scotland too strong for Wellington with 91-run win

Scotland eased to a 91-run victory against Wellington in the penultimate game of their World Cup warm-up tour.

There were solid contributions from Richie Berrington (27), Freddie Coleman (39), Craig Wallace (32) and Josh Davey (23) as the Scots posted 277-8.

Luke Woodcock (57) was the only home batsman to make an impression as Wellington were all out for 186.

Safyaan Sharif made the first breakthrough, clean bowling former Ayr professional and New Zealand international Michael Papps for two on his way to figures of 2-36 from 10 overs.

Davey and Majid Haq also took two wickets in what was Scotland's second win in six matches in Australia and New Zealand.

"It was a good win on the back of a few good performances from us recently," said Mommsen. "We haven't quite been able to get over the line in the last couple of matches, so to get the win was pretty important for us.

"Personally it's always nice to contribute, and all-round it was a good team performance, particularly the way we finished the batting innings.

"The bowlers did a brilliant job taking wickets early on which made it very difficult for them to stay in the chase. The fielding was also impressive - probably the best of the tour so far - and I'm very happy with the way it went."
