A free app to show drivers where they can park is being piloted in Cardiff.

The Smart Parking technology uses vehicle detection sensors installed at parking bays in the city to indicate available spaces - shown as green icons - with filled spaces showing as amber or red.

Cardiff is the first city outside London to use the technology.

The council said if the pilot is successful, it would look at extending the scheme.

The pilot area includes:

  • West Grove
  • The Walk
  • Museum Avenue
  • North Road
  • Museum Place
  • Park Place
  • Wellfield Road
  • Albany Road
  • Severn Road Car Park
  • Sophia Gardens Car Park
