Tooth and Nail is a 1984 album by heavy metal band Dokken. The album has sold over a million copies in US and overall, 3 million copies worldwide. The album reached #49 on the Billboard 200U.S. album chart.
This album is often called a breakthrough album for Dokken as it was
the first of the platinum trio of studio releases and the live album Beast from the East. This album was also the debut of bass guitarist Jeff Pilson
who brought an even heavier sound to the band. Thus this album became
Dokken's heaviest album with tracks like the title track really blazing
through, even faster than a speed-metal song.
The cover art is what appears to be the hand of the Creature from
the Black Lagoon tearing from a burning area through paper that looks
like water.
Tracks include "When Heaven Comes Down", "Turn On The Action", and
"Bullets To Spare". Hit singles include "Into The Fire", "Just Got
Lucky", and the power ballad "Alone Again".
Amazon.com Along with
Motley Crue, Quiet Riot and Twisted Sister, Ratt was one of the main
players of the '80s glam metal movement. Although many of their songs
lacked diversity and emotional poignancy, their guitarist Warren De
Martini possessed the flash and technical ability to escalate the group
above most of its peers. Out of the Cellar
is by far the band's best record, but between the blazing solos and
call-and-response choruses are many lackluster moments. What saves it
from the bargain bin, however, is the quintessential metal anthem
"Round and Round," one of the greatest three-or-so minutes in '80s
rock. --Jon Wiederhorn Download: http://rapidshare.com/files/21113601/R4ttOutOfTheCellar.rar
this album contains some of the best soulful music ever made ... the
love and caring in the lyrics are awesome .. if you ever wanna serinade
a girl get this cd and learn "if i could"
Originally released in 1983, this album was recorded in between the 2
Toto albums "IV" and "Isolation", and includes most of the Toto band
members, plus almost all the best studioperformers of L.A. at the time
(Tom Kelly, Billy Steinberg a.m.o)
The
songs are well written and powerfully recorded. The 2 best known songs
are the title track "Taking a cold look" and "Alone". The last one was
also released some years later by the band Heart, but I personally like
this original version better.
My favourite song is the great "I
don't wanna loose you", with a catchy chorus, and the typical
heartbreaking lyrics that Kelly/Steinberg does so well.
If you like the mid-80's AOR/Westcoast sound, this album is a MUST;

Bad Company: Brian Howe (vocals); Mick Ralphs (guitar); Boz Burrell (bass); Simon Kirke (drums).
After
an extended break from the rock world, Bad Company reconvened in 1985
with FAME AND FORTUNE, but original singer Paul Rodgers failed to make
the trip. His replacement, Brian Howe, was briefly the vocalist for Ted
Nugent's band, and proved to have a flair for melodicism on Bad Co.'s
seventh release overall. The veteran band couldn't resist sprinkling
some then-current rock sounds throughout the album (namely keyboards),
but songs such as "This Love," "If I'm Sleeping," and "Long Walk" prove
to be just as enjoyable as anything else on rock radio circa the
mid-1980s.

The first three re-issues from Rock Candy Records have one thing in
common: they were all originally released on Capitol Records. In case
of “Night Of The Crime”, Icon’s second album, this happened twenty
years ago (in 1985). Many hard rock lovers of the 80s consider this
album as a classic in its genre and I can only agree. Compared with the
self-titled debut (issued in 1984), “Night Of The Crime” sounded a lot
‘slicker’, thanks to the contributions of Ron Nevison (at the mixing
desk) and Bob Halligan (who co-wrote no less than six of the ten songs
on offer). Among the highlights on the album are ear-catchers such as
“Naked Eyes”, “Danger Calling” and “Out For Blood”. Unfortunately,
immediately after the recordings, vocalist Stephen Clifford announced
that he was to quit the band and although a replacement was quickly
found, the band was dropped by the label shortly after. More on that
can be read in the liner notes, that were once again written by Derek
Oliver.
Right from the opening track you know what your in for.A fun ride down

White Sister is a very impressive 80's AOR/melodic hair metal band.

First there was the MCA band Fortune and then there was Harlan Cage, a
band formed in 1996 by the excellent songwriters Roger Scott Craig and
L.A. Greene. Four albums (3 for MTM Music and 1 for Atenzia Records)
have been released between 1996 and 2002 and so the time was ripe for
the release of a ‘best of’ compilation. Three tracks were selected from
the band’s self-titled album (1996): “Three Nights Runnin’”, “One Naked
Kiss” and “Pay The Devil His Due”. “Double Medication Tuesday” (1998)
is represented by four tracks: “My Mama Said”, “As You Are”, “Blow Wind
Blow” and “Halfway Home”. Another four tracks were picked from
“Forbidden Colours” (1999): “Two Ships In The Night”, “No Sunday
Bride”, “Can’t Tame The Raven” and “Chinatown”. Only two tracks were
selected from the band’s latest album “Temple Of Tears” (2002): “One
New York Morning” and “Wooden Cross”. If
you own all Harlan Cage albums (you should!), this “The Best Of” could
only be of interest because of the addition of three new tracks: “Hell
Is Such A Lonely Place” (a nice mid-paced song), “Stacy” (a new version
of an old Fortune ‘hit’) and “No Turnin’ Back” (a bonus track they have
never released internationally). This album gives us all an excellent overview of the band’s career so far, but isn’t it about time for an all-new studio album?

David Polemeni (lv, g) John Teto (lg, v) Joey Sykes (b, v) Nelson Romano (d) Bobby Guy (k, v)
This here album was handed to me by fellow RR editor Peter and I was
quite curious to find out what was hidden within the grooves but at the
same time didn’t want to get my hopes up too high. But
what I heard upon first listen was quite enjoyable and the thing that
immediately struck me was how 80’s sounding the music of Boystown was.
Closer inspection revealed that this was not really surprising since
the band had been active between 1987 and 1991. This New Jersey
based combo made a name for themselves in their home town and after the
release of their first single “Way Of The World” in 1991, they were
able to even do a small tour of the UK. Some of their other songs were
used in movies such as “A Brilliant Disguise” and “The Kingdom Of The
Blind”. But back to “Angels With Dirty Faces” now, which oozes with
quality AOR songs. The music of this five some reminds me in many ways
of some the other bands that were active during the same period. While
listening names such as Strangeways, Refugee and even some Foreigner
spontaneously popped into my mind. So they can easily be filled under
typical late ‘80’s/early ‘90’s AOR. David Polemeni has an excellent
voice while the equally great musical frame work is supplied by John
Teto (guitar), Joey Sykes (bass), Nelson Williams (drums) and Bobby Guy
(keyboards). That these are older recordings is made clear by the
rather short playing time but out of the 11 songs on offer, 10 are of
great quality. The last track “Throw Your Hands Up” is not what you
would call a weak cut but was recorded live and the sound quality is
utterly bad. A bit of a shame to close an otherwise fine album with such a weak recording and that costs them half a star.
